The Land of Fire is one of the largest and most powerful countries in the shinobi world. The Land of Fire was the first country to adopt a ninja village, Konohagakure, a custom other countries would soon adopt. The Land of Fire is appropriately oriented towards the element of fire, typically having very bright and warm weather. While not the largest country, it has the largest hidden village.

The Land of Water is oriented towards the element of water. It is composed of many islands, with each having its own unique traditions. The country's weather is typically cool and full of mist and lakes. In some places, it is very cold and snows quite a bit.

The Wind Country is one of the more focused countries in shinobi world. It is located south-west of the Fire Country and borders the Strom Country. The country covers a vast realm, but that realm is largely comprised of deserts. Because there is very little rainfall throughout the year, the people of the country live in villages built on one of the desert's many oases. Despite the country's extremely harsh environment, it has a large population. The Wind Country is on good terms with the Fire Country

It is located on a peninsula north-east of the Fire Country and it is considered one of the Five Great Shinobi Nations. In the center of the country are vast mountain ranges, whose many thunder storms are said to give the country its name. From these mountain ranges, many rivers flow to the sea, creating a very crooked coastline that displays an impressive oceanic beauty. There are many hot springs located within the country

The Earth Country is located north-west of the Fire Country. The country is mostly comprised of desolate, rocky areas. The border of the Earth Country runs along a rocky mountain range, blocking communication with other countries. The wind blowing from the north passes over these mountains, carrying small rocks from the Earth Country to the surrounding countries. This famous natural phenomenon is called "Rock Rain".

The country resembles most other lands, with forests and such. It is called Storm Country, be due to the seasonal showers which give the area more precipitation than other countries. Arashi shares borders with Tsuchi, Hi, Kusa, and Kaze. Being centrally located between many of these countries have caused it to be their battleground in past wards. Strife caused the country to adopt strict border control. Any visitors must clearly state their purpose, length of stay and be kept under constant surveillance. This applies even when Amegakure hosts the Chuunin Exams.

The Land of Sound is a neighbor country of the Land of Fire. It is a relatively old country, though it had existed for some time under the name of the Land of Rice Fields. Orochimaru conquered the country long ago and established his own ninja village which has since grown and in size and power even after the death of the village founder centuries ago. This prompted the country to change its name from Land of Rice Fields to Land of Sound

The land of snow is a small and peaceful country that constantly experiences winter.The Land of Snow possesses an advanced level of technology. Additionally, their ninja wear special chakra armor that makes them virtually immune to ninjutsu and genjutsu

The land surrounding the village resembles that of the Fire Country, with large trees and cliffs. The country shares borders with the Earth, Grass, and Fire countries.

The Grass Country harbors some of the more varied landscapes in the world, with forests, grasslands, mountains, rivers, and bamboo thickets dotting it. The land shares borders with Tsuchi, Hi, Ame, and Taki. Because the country lies between Tsuchi and Hi, it has been invaded by the Earth Country during previous wars. To avoid Tsuchi gaining a foothold next to the Hi no Kuni border, many leaf shinobi come to Kusa's aid during the war.

The Star Country(formerly Bear country) is marked by many forests and mountains. Four hundred years ago, a chakra-enhancing meteor fell here and those who found it referred to is as a fallen star. Hoshigakure was created based around the usage of this meteor's powers.

Sky country has a warm climate and is almost always has blue skies with lots of sunshine. Weather rarely ever changes from this and Winter and cold climates are a foreign concept to natives of this nation. The country had a shinobi village before but lost it to the Second Shinobi war. A new village sprang up in its place after the Great Rebellion.

The Land of Iron is an icy, snow-covered country led by the Kanekage. It is politically unusual in that it has remained neutral and never been involved in the ninja wars or even the great rebellion. Despite this, it is said to have an incredibly strong military which, instead of ninja, is manned by Samurai. Its "Samurai" Village Kanegakure is located among three mountains called the Three Wolves.

The country looks rather ravenous; it is barren, desolate, and simmering hot. It is place that no mortal should ever hope to get lost in. Littered across the rocky surface are lava geysers that spew lava and magma ever so often. Smoke pushes from the ground above, in a steam like fashion though capable of causing breathing problems. Located somewhere within this country is Kazangakure, The Hidden Volcano Village.
